Aqua4D at the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Lima

Latin America is an important region for Aqua4D, with several significant projects in countries such as Ecuador, Chile, Peru, Brazil and a team of local agronomists on the ground. For this reason, Aqua4D was delighted to represent Swiss companies at the Regional Meeting of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Latin America at the Hilton Hotel in Lima.

The event was attended by luminaries such as the Swiss ambassador to Peru, Christoph Sommer; the CEO of Switzerland Global Enterprise, Daniel Küng, and the President of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce, Felipe Antonio Custer.

Mr Küng underlined the challenges presented by globalization today due to protectionism, making it even more important that countries with the same future visions cooperate closely, with commercial deals which permit the smooth exchange of goods and services. As an example of this he cited companies which are innovating in their respective areas and thus thriving in spite of adverse conditions and having an important international presence.

As part of this, Aqua4D was delighted to be invited as a successful case study, along with Lombardi and Geobrugg, to share their experiences in the Peruvian and Latin American market, and the challenges and opportunities this entails.

Eduardo de la Puente from Aqua4D Peru gave a keynote presentation in which he outlined the company’s innovative technology, its Latin American operations, and how bilateral agreements help operations. The Aqua4D system enables huge water savings and makes possible irrigation with saline or low-quality water, so there is huge interest in how the technology can help the often challenging and rugged environments in the region.

In answer to an interesting question asked by the Secretary for Swiss Commercial Relations on security and the investment climate, De la Puente stated that business success is based on the transparency of operations, especially when it’s cross-border. “We exercise an attitude to compliance which is alert to any activity which may put at risk our name or operations in the countries in which we are present,” he added.

An example of this good name the company is building is the amount of grassroots events at which it is present. Earlier in September, De la Puente, his technical colleague Enrique Rebaza, and AQATEC S.A.C.held an event at the Chincha College of Engineering with a group of young agronomists, highlighting the potential for sustainable agriculture in Peru.

You can catch Aqua4D on the road again in the next few weeks at Expoalimentaria 2018 in Lima, and the Ica College of Engineering on 18 October.
